What is accelerated artificial ageing?

Accelerated aging tests involve subjecting the material to harsh environmental conditions, such as high and low temperatures, UV, salt and humidity, to simulate the effects of long-term exposure.

By evaluating the material’s properties after exposure to these conditions, engineers can assess its durability and performance over time.

What is FRACTURE TOUGHNESS testing?

Fracture Toughness Test, (ISO 15024/ISO15114), is a method used to determine the resistance of a material to crack propagation also known as fracture toughness. The test is used to evaluate the ability of a material to resist crack development under a specific set load condition and to determine the critical crack size that a material can sustain without failure. The ISO 15024/15114 standard describes the procedures, equipment, materials required, test conditions and data analysis for mode-1 and mode-II. The test is commonly used to evaluate the mechanical properties of core materials, adhesives (ISO 25217), and composites in industrial and aerospace applications. It is particularly useful for evaluating the performance of materials in situations where there is a high risk of cracking, such as in high-stress environments.

What is SINGLE-EDGE-NOTCH BENDING?

Single-edge-notch bending, also known as SENB (ASTM D5045-14), is a test method used to evaluate the fracture toughness of plastic materials by determining the critical strain energy at which the crack propates in the material.

What is STATIC COMPRESSION testing?

Static compression test, also known as ISO 604, is a test method used to determine the compressive performance of plastic materials, such as adhesives and resin materials by determining the maximum compressive load at which the specimen fails.

This test is commonly used to evaluate the mechanical properties of plastic materials in industrial and aerospace applications and  can be used to evaluate specimens with different shapes and sizes, and with different thicknesses.

The ISO 604 standard describes the procedures, equipment and materials required, test conditions and data analysis.

What is SHORT BEAM SHEAR testing?

Short beam shear (ISO14130) test is used to evaluate the apparent interlaminar shear strength of fibre-reinforced composites. The test is suitable for a wide range of reinforced laminates.

The short beam shear test, also known as ISO 14130, is a test method used to determine the adhesive strength  by measuring the force required to create an interlaminar failure of the composite material.

ISO 14130 standard describes the procedures, equipment and materials required, test conditions and data analysis.
