Determination of the in-plane shear stress/shear strain response, including the in-plane shear modulus and strength, by the plus or minus 45-degree tension test method.

Why choose in-plane shear testing?

While more involved than the simple short beam shear method, the uniform strain distribution in the specimen allows for better accuracy in determining the actual strength of the laminate.

In addition to the ILSS (Interlaminar Shear Strength) the method allows for the determination of the shear modulus, G12, of the laminate.
